L'Artigianato Headquarters
Milan, Italy
Our Milan headquarters is the realization of a long-held vision by our founder, Eric Egan, who always imagined his office in the storied Piazza Castello. Designed in the late 19th century by architect Luca Beltrami, the piazza’s historic revival buildings serve as the perfect backdrop for our philosophy—where American sensibility meets Italian style in a seamless blend of elegance, heritage, and modernity.
Inside, the space reflects Egan’s distinct approach to design: a curated layering of eras, textures, and moods that feel both sophisticated and lived-in. Inspired by the timeless charm of Italian aristocratic apartments, the interiors balance grandeur with an effortless, slightly decadent appeal. The floors are stone-paved rather than polished marble, the parquet herringbone is intentionally understated, and imperfections—like a cracked stone countertop—are embraced as part of the patina of time.
Every project we take on follows a similar ethos, whether designing private residences or reimagining legendary hotels such as the Gritti Palace in Venice, Milan’s Mandarin Oriental, and a private villa at the Belmond Caruso in Ravello. We believe in spaces that feel personal, storied, and full of character—where traditional design is reinterpreted with a wink. In our own office, that spirit comes through in everything from richly layered fabrics and intricate trims to playful juxtapositions, like classic chinoiserie wallpaper subtly disrupted by an unexpected, modern motif.
With an eye for the grand yet unpretentious, the refined yet relaxed, Egan’s vision is a celebration of Italy’s effortless beauty—where every detail tells a story, and true sophistication is never too polished.
